He was the only true sinless and unblemished lamb that could accomplish this.  He then was buried and rose from the dead three days later in order that we could rise to new life as well through Him! The blood that was shed on that cross 2000 years ago meant that anyone who would believe on the Lord Jesus Christ would be covered by God's grace forever and would be saved!
